Sweet Basil (Whole Leaf)
₹599.00
Our Sweet Basil is a vibrant, aromatic herb known for its iconic peppery-sweet flavor and hints of clove and mint. Grown in the sun-drenched fields of the Kumaon Himalayas, these leaves are hand-picked at their peak to ensure maximum flavour. We use solar drying to gently remove moisture while locking in the volatile oils that give basil its signature scent, resulting in a dried herb that is far more potent than standard store-bought versions.

Cultivation & Sourcing
We cultivate Sweet Basil on our farm in Sunderkhal, prioritizing natural soil health and chemical-free practices. To support our local ecosystem, we also source from small-scale farmers in the Mukteshwar region who follow our sustainable growing standards. Following the FARMSTEL “no machine” philosophy, the leaves are carefully air-dried and hand-packed to avoid crushing, preserving the integrity of every leaf.
Traditional Use
While closely related to Tulsi, Sweet Basil has its own distinct place in traditional and culinary wellness.
- Digestive Soother: Traditionally brewed into a light tea to help ease stomach cramps and support healthy digestion after meals.
- Stress Relief: The aroma of sweet basil is often used in traditional aromatherapy to uplift the mood and reduce mental fatigue.
- Natural Tonic: Known in various cultures for its mild antibacterial properties and its ability to support the body’s natural defence systems.
How to Use
- Culinary Essential: Crumble the dried leaves into tomato-based pasta sauces, pizzas, or pestos. It pairs beautifully with garlic, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.
- Herbal Infusion: Steep a few leaves in hot water for 3-4 minutes. Add a slice of lemon and a drop of our Raw Himalayan Honey for a refreshing, restorative drink.
- Infused Oils: Add a tablespoon of dried basil to your Yellow Mustard Oil or Sweet Almond Oil and let it sit for a week to create a flavorful finishing oil for salads and bread.
- Gourmet Garnish: Sprinkle over fresh salads, caprese, or even fruit bowls (like watermelon or strawberry) for a sophisticated flavor profile.
