Himalayan Thyme

Our Thyme is a concentrated burst of mountain freshness. These tiny, potent leaves are harvested from the rocky slopes of the Kumaon Himalayas. Because our thyme grows in challenging high-altitude conditions, it develops a robust essential oil profile that is far superior to mass-produced herbs. We use solar drying to preserve its earthy, minty, and slightly lemony notes, ensuring it arrives in your kitchen with its “wild” character intact.

Cultivation & Sourcing

This product represents the true spirit of the mountains. A portion of our Thyme is carefully cultivated on our farm in Sunderkhal, where we use natural, chemical-free methods. The rest is wild-collected from the surrounding forests by local villagers who have known these hills for generations. This sustainable foraging practice ensures that we capture the true essence of the Himalayan wilderness while providing a direct source of income to the local forest-dwelling communities.

Traditional Use

Thyme has been a staple in Himalayan “Pahadi” wellness for centuries, especially for respiratory and digestive care.

  • Respiratory Relief: Traditionally used in steam inhalations or teas to help clear congestion and soothe a stubborn cough.
  • Digestive Aid: Often brewed after heavy meals to reduce bloating and support gut health.
  • Natural Cleanser: Due to its powerful antibacterial properties, thyme water was historically used as a gentle disinfectant and throat gargle.

How to Use

  • The “Pahadi” Brew: Steep a small pinch of dried thyme in boiling water for 5-7 minutes. Add a dash of lemon and Raw Himalayan Honey for a refreshing, immunity-boosting tea.
  • Culinary Herb: It is the perfect companion for roasted vegetables, slow-cooked stews, or even sprinkled over fresh curd (raita) for a unique local flavor.
  • Aromatic Infusion: Add thyme to your cooking oil or butter at low heat to create an aromatic base for sautéing meats or vegetables.
  • Steam Inhalation: For seasonal congestion, add half a teaspoon to a bowl of hot water and inhale the steam to help open up the airways.
